The two companies are working on a new startup called Kaleido to bring blockchain to AWS customers. The firm will offer an off-the-shelf blockchain solution to reduce the barriers to entry for new users.

Bruno Le Maire, the French Minister of the Economy & Finance, has reversed his views on digital assets expressing “total and determined support.” He admits he was less than enthusiastic a year ago, but is now advocating for France to become a hub of crypto innovation.

DTCC exploring a distributed ledger to update trade information warehouse

Robert Palatnick, Chief Technology Architect at DTCC, has confirmed the company will launch a distributed ledger platform to track trade information. Completion of the codebase is expected for the end of this quarter, data migration and testing is slated for the last quarter of 2018.

Study highlights Bitcoin’s growing energy consumption worldwide

A recent article estimates that Bitcoin’s worldwide network is currently consuming at least 2.55 gigawatts of electricity with the potential to reach 7.67 gigawatts. The figures presented are estimates from current miner numbers and mining equipment production figures. Economic models suggest that electricity consumption could reach the total energy usage of Austria.
